Eric left Saturday night and is now in Las Cruces getting settled in and ready for his new job. I already took over his room and converted it to my "chambers". Big Lucas Coshenet arrived tonight as my new roommate and our summer intern. Let the good times roll...
Some recent photos. All, with the exception of the last, were taken on film with my little QL-17 rangefinder.

My friend, and very soon my roommate and intern slave, Big Lucas.

My friend, and very soon former roommate, the quarter-Korean master of the natural disaster, E.

Although the owners might, the dog does not mind getting his feet wet.

Yes, I'm still here, and I still intend to keep up this website. A dreadful combination of busyness, sleepyness and lazines have prevented me from updating as much as I should. I've also been traveling some, which means I should be writing, but it also means I haven't had as much time (that is no guarantee that I would have written had I had more time, though).
Last weekend I traveled to Las Cruces for the wedding of Little Lucas Herndon and Emma Henderson. I met Little Lucas when I worked at the university newspaper. He was the News Editor at the tender age of 17. Emma I met shortly thereafter when she and Lucas started dating. Now, only slightly less tender, they are Mr. and Mrs. Lucas Herndon. The wedding was lovely, a sunset ceremony at the clubhouse of the university golf course. During the ceremony the wedding party was on the grass as we looked down from above.

Puttin' the ring on the finger. I shot during the ceremony with a point-and-shoot digital camera I borrowed from work. While it doensn't match the quality of my SLRs, it doesn't do half bad.
After we sent the kids off we stayed for a while at the club house before moving the party to their house. They of course were not there, but their roommate was. There were many people I knew there, Ben, Big Lucas (see entries from Christmas 2003 if you don't know him), Sage, Eric and so on. It was nice to have so many people together at the same time.
As I was about to leave Las Cruces I stumbled upon a big arrest of illegal immigrants. I didn't know what was going on, just that there were a lot of cop cars, so I took some photos. I called a friend at the Las Cruces paper to see if they knew about it and they didn't. She was the only photographer that day and was very busy, so I dropped by the paper to give them the photos (The Sun-News is our sister paper) and there I saw more old friends I hadn't seen in years.
Now I'm back in Farmington, staying very busy with high school graduations *ugh*. Only a few more to go, though.
The Animas river is flooding, so yesterday Eric and I went down (we have Mondays off) to check it out. The park along the river is much more under water than usual and it seemed half the town went to see it. We both took cameras and took a lot of pictures. Where are they, you ask? Rolled up in a canister waiting to be developed. I've been shooting film lately through my little Canon QL-17 rangefinder and it feels really good to get back to basics. Speaking of taking pictures, I think someone wants to pay me to do it with fancy high-dollar digital cameras about now, so I had better go to work.
I found out yesterday that I've been cleared with a photo pass for Willie Nelson tonight in Durango. It's a big deal because we get almost no big acts here in the Four Corners. The show sold out in 6 minutes, but now I get to see it for free, plus be closer than anyone else. We'll leave about 15:00 to get there for the pre-show BBQ to get some photos and quotes. Pardon me, but I can't resist:
"I just can't wait to get on the road again..."
Well, my free four-day weekend has closed out and I'm back in Farmington. It was a great time. Hanging out with Sage was fun; it had been a long time. I also saw my brother and took him to a bar (I was still in my banquet clothes and a guy in the bathroom asked me if I owned the place). I spent the night at my parents house and one at Ben and Laura's in Santa Fe. So plenty of traveling and visiting. Thanks to everyone involved; it was nice to see you all.

Here's a photo of Sage and me in our fancy clothes. It's rare to see us like this, so I thought I'd share. Sage had her shirt hand-tailored in Vietnam for $8. My shirt was made in Bangladesh and was imported by Target and cost more than $8. I guess I should pay more attention to where I shop.
