I'm back in my apartment in Farmington now; I rolled in this morning. A brewing winter storm in Colorado brought my trip to a premature end :(. I had plans with my sister and her husband this weekend but I only had one day of good travel weather before I had to be back here, and since my trip involved mountain passes and a motorcycle, an early visit by Old Man Winter was not on my most wanted list. The ride home was great, save a speeding ticket (My first) on a stretch of highway suitable for a landing strip and nasty rain on this side of Wolf Creek Pass. I got to Durango on sheer determination where I paid a surprise visit to my friend Brett and his family, who welcomed me in as though they had been expecting me. I staid the night there in warm comfort and rode back to Farmington this morning. Aside from being sent home early, which is a real bummer, my visit to Colorado was very nice. I still got to spend some time with my sister and brother-in-law and my friends Issac and Angela and their new son Ivan.
One upside to my early return was getting to see my friends Valerie and Curtis who visited from Kentucky this weekend and I would have missed had I stuck to my original timetable. So, as they say, there were some silver linings on thos big, dark clouds.
